Description
Waldorf Family – Math Wheel
Number wheels are used by children as a tool to learn and practice the times tables as well as to practice the numbers themselves.
Engaging the hands in learning and seeing how beautiful the patterns of each number are really allows children to engage with the beauty of math.
Used in Waldorf, Montessori and other schools these Math Wheels can be used for all ages.
Younger children who might not be ready for multiplication can make patterns, do counting and find even and odd numbers.
Just having busy little hands will help to build their fine motor skills and dexterity.
If you are learning the tables with this tool when passing zero “0†at the top the numbers carry a unit of ten afterwards.
So for example the threes: 3,6,9,12,15,18,21,24,27,30- starting with 3,6,9 then imagine a unit of ten in front of the next round so for 12 you would use the 2 space, 15 would be 5, 18 would be 8 – the same then for the next round except imagine a unit of 20, so 21 uses the space 1, 24 used the space 4 and so on. The pattern usually becomes evident.
You can use the cord that comes with the product, or yarn or even rubber bands.
This is an educational tool and should be used with the supervision of an adult.
Made using sustainable wood.

We are inspired by the principles of Waldorf education and other educational approaches, such as Montessori.”
About the Artist, Stephanie Green:
“I am inspired by nature: if I can help children in the built environment connect with nature and help those who do not find a good fit in the educational system find wonder in learning then I will be doing what I was put here to do.
I believe we are all here to serve – our society, our purpose. It is our job to dig deep and discover what lights our fire: for me that is drawing, painting, my family and homemaking. These personal passions were what firmly led me to create for children.
I still remember a painting that I had when I was about 6 or 7. In each corner it had so many details I remember staring at this whole other world for hours – not really sure if it was a real world – existing in that flat paper space.”
