***A note on the gems: in some, tiny specks of imperfections are visible. These are unavoidable. There is also a lot of handling that goes on before the actual product arrives in your home, this may also be part of the reason why tiny scratches can be seen on some gems. In working with this product Papoose sincerely do not believe this impacts in any way on the play value and it only happens occasionally. Of course, during quality control the bad ones get filtered out. If you happen to get a BROKEN gem please let us know immediately as this is not OK and will be replaced. If you feel you can not deal with these little specks and marks, please refrain from buying this product.
About Papoose…
Founded in 1991 by Australian Renske Carbone, Papoose Toys and Creative Wood Company under the umbrella of Colours of Australia produce natural toys and loose parts for open-ended creative play.
Working with natural materials, production takes place in small communities in Nepal, Sri Lanka and Indonesia. Pure wool felt toys and loose parts are made by hand at fairly traded rates of pay. The Creative Wood Company products are made primarily using waste from the furniture industry with wood supplied exclusively from wood traders meeting the SVLK Timber Legality Verification.
Thank you for supporting this community-oriented natural-play business.
Papoose Felt is made from pure 100% wool and therefore cleaned similarly to wool.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
For liquid spills: Wool is naturally water repellent and if spills are dealt with immediately the wool won’t absorb much liquid. Dab liquid up with damp cloth, repeat with clean damp cloth, let article dry.
For dust and other dirt: Due to the scales of the wool structure dust is trapped in the outer layers of the wool and can therefore easily be cleaned. If the article is large and flat it can be vacuumed. If the article is smaller and soiled gently hand wash it in lukewarm water using wool soap. Dry away from direct sunlight. Do not agitate the article too much during washing as it will promote further felting. DO NOT soak, machine wash or put anything in the drier. This will further felt the article and it will shrink and distort the item.
NOTE: Stuffed toys will take a longer time to dry so make sure the items are fully dry before using them again. It is advised that they be surface cleaned rather than immersed completely in water.
