About Grimm’s Wooden Toys…..
Our intent is to design toys, whose simple and reduced design together with beautiful colouring and inviting surface feel are well suited for all ages ? products that are played with over and over again.
GRIMM?S is a family owned company which develops, manufactures and sells wooden toys worldwide.
The headquarters staff in Hochdorf, Germany does all the design work, the surface finish and treatment, assembly, quality control, packing and shipping.
Woodworking is outsourced to a few independent shops in Europe only.?The owner of the largest one among them learned his woodworking skills at our company over many years before he founded his own company in his country.
After receipt of the raw products, we inspect for quality and complete the remaining production steps here in Germany.
Most our products are sanded by hand, which gives them a different look and feel versus machined products.
The roots of the firm Grimm?s Spiel und Holz Design began almost 35 years ago ? in 1978. In August 2006, the company formerly known as Spiel und Holz Design became Grimm?s Spiel und Holz Design under new ownership.
Grimm’s Wood Inspires All Senses…..
We love wood because it is a natural material so it always has various markings that show up in our products, making each one unique.
Grimm?s toys are always one a kind, carrying unique marks made by nature. Wood grain has changing structures and colours which serve as proof of its
natural origins.
The unique variations are proof of quality, not defects.

The Special Charisma
Wood is expressive, refined through the signs of time: it is so robust that it accompanies us a long time.
Wood is aesthetically beautiful: it tells the story of nature and life.
When its journey through the generations comes to an end, it is able to be recycled back into nature.
The Sound
Wood has a warm and vivid sound. Instruments made of wood showcase its full sound spectrum.
The Smell
Through the smell of wood, we feel its originality, clarity and sincerity.
The Taste
Do you remember how wood tastes?
We do not need additives for wood, therefore it is ideal for teething rings, rattles and grasping toys for our small children. Its surface binds humidity because it is open and rough. On this dry surface bacteria cannot grow ? they die. In addition, some types of wood have special properties which have germicidal effects.
The Feel
Wood feels good in our hands with its warmth and distinct surface.
To enhance the vibrant expression of wood, we only varnish our wood with color and oil.

These little bowls are awesome for tiny hands. My 18 month old loves them. For now she sorts with her fingers but I’m sure she will use the tongs soon!
